International Peace Service Programme

The programme includes:

· Exchange for Peace
· International accompaniment to Guatemala; Chiapas, Mexico, and Colombia.
· Publications such as books and manuals related to the International Service for Peace Programme

SweFOR sends volunteers to Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico, where they are part of an unarmed international protective presence. The programme is carried out in close cooperation with local partner organisations.

Each volunteer receives six weeks of training before leaving for Latin America. As part of their training, they take part in our so called "South-South exchanges"; two week long courses in nonviolence and conflict management with participation by people from partner organisations in conflict or crisis areas in the Global South.

Together with other Swedish NGOs, SweFOR is very active in relation to the conflict in Colombia through petitions, seminars and co-hosting of dialogue efforts.
